NETWORK supplier Imminus has launched its Internet-based viewdata system for travel agents, Endeavour.

The system allows users to access viewdata in the traditional way by dialling a local-rate telephone number or through a permanent link to Imminus, but over an extranet.

Endeavour is significantly faster than traditional viewdata and allows agents to access more than one tour operator at a time.

As well as being able to access viewdata, Endeavour customers get other Internet-based products, including free e-mail with five addresses, and the offer of 25% cheaper telephone charges than their existing bills if they switch to the Imminus network.

Imminus head of travel and leisure Keith Webber said more products will be added in the coming months, including on-line credit-card authorisations and direct access to travel information.

All new clients signed to the Imminus network will have to take the new Internet-based system.

Imminus announced last month that it will no longer provide traditional viewdata to new customers as its wants to push the industry towards using Internet technology.

Agents who want a leased line to Endeavour will pay £199 a month.
