Buzz jets off with £60 launch fare

KLMUKlow-cost carrier

KLM UK has announced its new low-cost, direct-sell airline Buzz will offer introductory return fares from £60 to six European routes.

Flights from Stansted to Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Lyons, Milan and Paris will start from £60, while Vienna will cost from £100 return when the flights are launched on January 4.

Customers can book seats over the telephone, on the airline’s Internet site www.buzzaway.com or through travel agencies.

Commercial director of Buzz and KLM UK, Tony Camacho said:”Most bookings will be direct, but if agents want to sell Buzz it will be up to them to charge a service fee to the customer.”

He said sales targets will be adjusted to ensure agents do not lose out from the switch of five of KLMUK’s routes to Buzz. Negotiations with agents are still on-going.

Passengers will have a choice of two types of fare on the new airline: Done Deal and Open Deal.

On the Done Deal fare, passengers have to be away for at least two nights, while Open Deal is a more flexible ticket.
