Ryanair has cancelled all flights to Newquay from Monday in light of the temporary closure of the airport announced yesterday.
Newquay Cornwall Airport at St Mawgan will not have a licence to operate commercial flights until December 20. The military licence under which it currently operates expires on December 1 and the RAF has refused a request for an extension, so the airport must close for 19 days from Monday.
Ryanair said it had “no alternative other than to cancel all flights until further notice”.
A Ryanair spokesman said: “The situation at Newquay has descended into farce. We will be encouraging all passengers to make compensation claims direct to Newquay Airport and Cornwall County Council.”
