The Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation will hold a crunch meeting in January to discuss attracting new supplier members.
Chairman Graham Balmforth said as the travel marketing group celebrates its 10th anniversary, it is performing well with 15 members ranging from domestic tour operators to a cruise company and 3,000 travel agents registered online.
However, as agents increasingly diversify their businesses the hunt is on for more niche operators and even airlines and online suppliers to join.
Balmforth said: “The TIPTO executive and key members are meeting straight after Christmas to see what extra TIPTO can do to entice operator members, we need to add value and we need to discuss what else we can do.
“If you look at the current market in terms of what is selling we’ve got to look at the cruise market and long haul luxury, we are certainly talking at the moment to a few cruise specialists to join.”
Balmforth added in the last year the organisation has approached “a lot” of airlines in a bid to recruit one but the airlines have always resisted, largely because their own marketing budgets have been big enough to allow them to penetrate the trade.
