Seven in ten consumers are changing the way they book travel during the economic downturn, a study by Global Reviews has found.
One in four now check that they have travel insurance before booking, while two in five are more careful about the company they choose to book with. Just 4% said they had not changed their habits as they were happy to take the risk.
Half of respondents use Thomas Cook’s website to research online, 44% use Thomson and 13% use Trailfinders. Of the online travel companies, Expedia was most popular, followed by Lastminute.com and Opodo.
Global Reviews director Bertie Stevenson said: “When booking a holiday, customers are now just as concerned about the stability of the company as they are in the price.”
