Andrew Botterill appointed MD of Stella Travel Services UK

Stella Travel Services has appointed Andrew Botterill as UK managing director as part of a restructure that sees the departure of  European boss Shane Flynn.

Staff at the group were informed this morning of the changes which sees Botterill, until now chief executive of the Global Travel Group, take responsibility for all the group’s UK businesses, including Travel 2, Travelbag, Harvey World Travel and Global Travel Group.

An email to staff read: “Andrew’s appointment will be effective immediately and comes as we increasingly seek to leverage Stella’s UK businesses off a single platform.”

Flynn, who has worked for the group for eight months and started officially as European managing director for Stella Travel Services in the autumn of last year, has agreed to stay on as a consultant to the group for the next six months.

The shake-up follows a series of changes within the group. Harvey World Travel bosses Andy Tomlinson and Natalie Turner were made redundant in December while a staff consultation at Travel 2’s Glasgow call centre also ended last month. Earlier in the year Travel 2 managing director Maria Whiteman left the group and Stella Travel Services UK managing director Andrew Laurie returned to work for the group in Australia.

It is also understood several Harvey World Travel shops shut in the weeks before Christmas.

No-one at Stella Travel Services was available for comment.
