EasyJet passenger numbers up in April despite 323 cancellations

EasyJet April passenger numbers rose by 4.7% to almost 7.5 million despite 323 flights being cancelled during the month.

More than half of the grounded flights were blamed on French industrial action.

Bad weather caused the remaining cancellations together with a 24-hour closure of Amsterdam Schiphol airport and technical issues.

The UK budget carrier described passenger numbers at its new base at Berlin Tegel airport as being in line with expectations with further details to be provided along with results for the first half of the financial year on May 15.

The airline’s passenger load factor for edged up to 93.4% over the same month last year.

The April performance gave easyJet an 8% rise in annual carryings to 82.8 million with a load factor of 93.3%.
