Wizz Air is expanded it presence at Doncaster Sheffield airport with a new route to Hungary’s second largest city.
Two flights a week to Debrecen start on December 16, tickets went on sale yesterday (Monday).
Debrecen is the capital of Hungary’s Northern Great Plain region and once Europe’s largest Calvinist city.
Eastern and central European budget carrier Wizz Air now offers 11 routes from the Yorkshire airport and has carried more than 178,000 passengers from Doncaster Sheffield so far this year.
The new route will add to the 55 destinations already served from the airport.
A Wizz Air spokesman said: “We are delighted to be the first airline to connect Doncaster Sheffield with Debrecen, giving our customers based in the north of England the opportunity to explore this vibrant and culturally rich city.”
Doncaster Sheffield aviation development director Chris Harcombe said: “We are delighted that Wizz Air has decided to expand its base as a great show of confidence in our offering and means we can provide a wide choice of destinations for our customers.”
