Travel agents and operators must draw their customers’ attention to regulations about the food they bring into EU countries from outside the EU, following the introduction of new legislation on May 1.
The rules, which apply to personal imports of meat, dairy products and fish, can be conveyed by email, post, verbally or via the internet.
Although travel agents are obliged to make their customers aware of the regulations, there is no penalty if they fail to do so, said the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
