ALLEGRO Holidays’ bed allocation in the Canaries and Balearics for next summer has been offered to rival operators after it failed to renew its Air Travel Organisers’ Licence.
The Turkey specialist has been unable to carry passengers or take bookings since its ATOL renewal date expired at the end of September. Allegro is thought to have refunded customers due to travel this autumn.
Club Travel 2000 is believed to have taken some beds the operator had contracted in Gran Canaria. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the operator will not be able to trade until its ATOLis renewed.
Allegro Holidays managing director Norman Meredith was unavailable for comment. It has been a hard year for Turkey specialists with business hit by terrorist threats on holiday resorts and August’s earthquake.
