Thomas Cook has made a number of changes to its senior management team including the appointment of a new retail chief and a promotion for Phil Gardner.
Anth Mooney, currently chief financial services officer, has joined the UK management team as chief of UK retail and money to “reinvigorate Thomas Cook’s retail estate” and “strengthen its offer of travel-focused financial services products”.
In his new role, Mooney reports to chief of UK source market Ingo Burmester and continues to report to chief executive Peter Fankhauser in his group role leading Thomas Cook Money.
Director of retail and customer experience Kathryn Darbandi will report into Mooney,
Gardner has been promoted to sales and e-commerce director, adding to his existing responsibilities of commercial sales, third -party relations and Freedom Travel Group. The role also assumes responsibility for Thomas Cook Sport.
Alex Appelmann has been appointed to the newly created role of commercial director. He was previously group commercial in Oberursel, Germany where he has was director of product, planning and portfolio management in a group-wide role.
The changes are effective from October 1.
