The Easter period provided a boost to both Ryanair and Wizz Air with April passenger numbers soaring.
Ryanair group carryings rose by 10% to 13.5 million passengers to give a rolling annual total up 9% to 142.3 million.
The Irish no-frills carrier flew 13 million passengers in the month, a rise of 5%, while Austrian offshoot Lauda carried 500,000.
Ryanair achieved a load factor of 96% as it operated more tan 75,000 scheduled flights in April.
Hungarian low cost carrier Wizz Air flew 3.2 million passengers last month against 2.7 million at the same time last year, a rise of 19%.
The airline’s load factor improved by 1.1 percentage points to 91.9%.
Wizz Air reported an improved operational performance with just four flights cancelled during the month and a year-on-year improvement in on-time performance to 81%.
The April figures gave the airline a rolling annual passenger total up 16.7% to 35 million.
