The Oman Ministry of Tourism is launching a marketing campaign to coincide with the country’s 40th National Day celebrations, which commemorate His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s assumption of power.
The initial phase of the campaign will concentrate on destination awareness promotions in the press, online and with trade partners. The adverts will highlight the country’s traditional heritage and contemporary offerings, under the slogan Beauty has an address.
The second phase, a tactical campaign to be launched in December, will include inclusive packages.
The celebrations will run from November to April 2011, including events such as the Muscat Asian beach games, the Muscat Festival, including Oman’s first Fashion Week and Food Festival, and a Tour of Oman cycle race.
In the next few years, Oman will add up to 5,000 rooms, refurbish Muscat and Salalah international airports and begin construction of five domestic airports.
Director-general of tourism promotion Salim Bin AdeyAl-Mamari said he would like to see an increase of tourists from the UK of at least 7.5% year-on-year.
The Ministry will run two fam trips and a series of agent roadshows next year.
