British Airways will increase its fuel surcharge on long-haul services from Tuesday. The surcharge element of fares will rise by £12 per sector in economy – meaning £24 on a direct return flight – and £17 in the BA business class Club World and in First.
There will be no increase in the surcharge on short-haul services. The rises will take the surcharge on the cheapest long-haul fares where flights last more than nine hours to £88 and on shorter flights to £75.
In a statement BA said: “The move reflects a 14% rise in the spot price of jet fuel since our last fuel surcharge increase in December.”
