Iain Andrew leaves dnata Travel

The boss of Dnata’s travel division, Iain Andrew, has left the business.

Andrew had been at the Emirates Group-owned company, parent to trade-only operators Gold Medal and Travel 2, the Global Travel Group consortium and OTAs Travel Republic and NetFlights, since December 2005.

As divisional senior vice president – travel services, he was responsible for all aspects of dnata’s travel business across the Middle East as well as its international investments.

Before joining dnata, Andrew worked for logistics firm Unipart, Thomas Cook, American Express, and at Air 2000 (the charter airline of First Choice Holidays) in a number of IT, finance and management roles.

A chartered accountant, Andrew also served as chief information officer for Tui Airline Management, a group of six European charter airlines and as IT and change director for Britannia Airways, part of the Tui Group, as well as chief information officer for the Dixons Stores Group.

Steve Allen, divisional senior vice president for UAE airport operations, will assume responsibility for dnata Travel’s business globally until a replacement for Andrew is appointed.

Allen, who sits on the Emirates Group innovation board, is responsible for the ground handling and cargo operations at both Dubai airports and serves as a board member at two UAE based group companies, Transguard and Plafond. During 15 years at British Airways before joinging dnata in 2008, he helped design Heathrow Terminal 5.

A dnata spokesperson said: “dnata confirms that Iain Andrew, divisional senior vice president for dnata Travel has resigned from the company. His replacement will be announced in due course.

“In the interim, Steve Allen, divisional senior vice president for UAE airport operations, will assume responsibility for dnata Travel’s business globally. He will lead the travel team in the transition period, with a focus on ensuring our customers’ requirements continue to be met with the high quality products and value-added services that dnata is known for.”
