Heathrow suffered a fall in passengers last month due to a slump in demand on Asian, South American and European routes.
Numbers were down by 4.8% to 5.4 million over February last year after adjusting for the extra leap year day, the London hub revealed today.
And Heathrow warned: “Demand has continued to weaken going into March and Heathrow expects a further year-on-year decrease in coming weeks.”
Asia-Pacific passenger numbers dropped by almost 20% year-on-year with Latin America showing a 2.5% decline and the European Union 1.6%.

Regular deep cleaning was introduced last month across all terminals as well as increased availability and provision of hand sanitisers.
Chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: “The threat of coronavirus is an increasing challenge for the UK and we are working day and night to ensure Britain’s front door is open and safe for our people and passengers.
“We will continue to work with the government to limit the impacts this will have on UK plc.”
