‘Steady rise’ in car hire bookings

Flexible Autos says it is seeing a ‘steady rise’ in car hire bookings from August onwards.

The trade-only rental supplier reports 2021 bookings for vehicle hire in English-speaking destinations such as the US, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa were ahead of other destinations.

Flexible Autos said its offer of free cancellations and amendments up to 48 hours prior to pick up had helped give customers more confidence to book 2021 trips more confidence.

Group managing director Sue Dixon said: “We now have a large amount of re-protects and amendments rather than cancellations. We are definitely seeing a very optimistic improvement.

“The fact that people are starting to book for 2021, and even 2022, is an indication that holidays are still in the forefront of people’s minds.”

Dixon added: “When it is safe to travel again, we anticipate there will be a greater demand for self-drive holidays. Early indications are that long-haul English-speaking destinations will be high up on where people will venture back to first”.
