Stranded British tourists to be flown home from Cyprus

Ten government rescue flights are being laid on to return British holidaymakers stranded in Cyprus due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

The repatriation flights are due to run between April 25-30.

They will be operated by Aegean Airlines from Larnaca to Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.

The Foreign Office has stepped in due to a near complete ban on flights to and from the island from March 21 to April 30.

The FCO said: “Although a very limited number of commercial flights are still able to leave Cyprus, only humanitarian and cargo flights may arrive.

“We know this is concerning for British people trying to leave Cyprus.

“The UK government is working closely with airlines, the Cypriot authorities and other governments to make sure options are available for you to return to the UK as soon as possible.

“British tourists in Cyprus wishing to return to the UK as soon as possible can register their interest in doing with the British High Commission

“The Cyprus government is organising repatriation flights from European hubs.

“From 25–30 April a series of ten flights will operate to repatriate British tourists in Cyprus.”
