King World Travel ties up deal with Sunwing

Scottish agency King World Travel is to sell seats to Canada in a deal with leading Canadian operator Sunwing.

Minoan Group, which acquired KWT in March for £410,000, has agreed a general sales agency agreement with Sunwing.

This will enable KWT to sell seats on Sunwing’s transatlantic flying programme direct to consumers and also through other retail agencies. Capacity will be sold as flight-only or as holiday packages in a three-year deal.

The move comes hot on the heels of KWT becoming the exclusive franchisee of Cruise118 within the Scottish travel market designed to enable the agency to take a leading market position within the Scottish cruise market.

Minoan chairman Christopher Egleton said: “This expansion of KWT’s reach and focus further demonstrates our commitment to this part of the business, with a view to creating a valuable standalone operation.

“There is huge scope for growth as we build on a strong brand and open up a new revenue stream.

“This is another positive step forward in Minoan’s overall travel strategy – with the emphasis firmly on creating a profitable, distribution led travel business – and we are delighted to have teamed up with Sunwing.”
