Sandals has produced a video highlighting its ‘Platinum Protocol of Cleanliness’ as its Grande Antigua Resort & Spa reopened to US customers.
The government of Antigua and Barbuda has announced a phased approach to the reopening of the country’s tourism industry, with UK flights yet to be reinstated and the FCO still advising against all non-essential travel.
The cleanliness protocols unveiled by Sandals include remote check-in, the provision of hand sanitising stations in public spaces and special training for staff.
Additional housekeeping measures have also been introduced, along with more airport transfers and other social distancing measures. All staff will wear protective face masks and gloves and will undergo temperature checks before the start of each shift.
Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, founder and chairman of Sandals Resorts, said: “We have been highly anticipating this moment and have spent this time strengthening every element of our health and safety protocols with our guests in mind.
“We are pleased to report that The Ministries of Health and Tourism have certified that we have successfully completed the stringent registration and inspection protocols with flying colors.
“We are eager to provide that much-needed escape for travellers who have been cooped up and are now seeking a place to relax that gives them the privacy, reassurance and the space they’re looking for.”
