There are signs that travel businesses are starting to prepare for the long-awaited upturn, according to travel recruitment specialist C&M Recruitment.
Managing director Angus Chisholm said the agency was seeing increased activity in the jobs market and had more than 400 roles available, while its executive search arm, Chisholm & Moore, had more than 50.
He said firms throughout the sector were looking to recruit for vacancies across a wide range of roles. He noted a particular upturn in business travel where salaries are on the rise while they were “static” elsewhere.
“We are a good barometer of the industry,” Chisholm said. “There is not a lot of confidence at the macro level but individual companies are recruiting.
“People are more confident about moving now whereas previously they would have been nervous about what was going on in their businesses.”
Chisholm & Moore, which is two-and-a-half years old, has just taken on an executive recruitment specialist, based at C&M’s Manchester office.
