n midland mainline gets eurostar deal
Midland Mainline has teamed up with Eurostar to offer a £69 ticket from most of its stations to Paris and Brussels. Customers will be able to travel from Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and must complete their journey by December 27.
n Wallace arnold to raise pick-ups by 70%
Wallace Arnold is increasing its UK pick-up points by 70% to 1,600 for summer 2000. The Tourlink network serves customers departing on the operator’s UK and European holidays. The move follows investment in a newcomputerised vehicle-routing system. Based on satellite mapping technology, CVRS is a flexible system which enables Wallace Arnold to plan according to where and when pick-ups are actually required. A major marketing campaign is to be launched to promote the service.
n Eurostar counters higher UKfares
Eurostar has defended charging higher rates to British passengers than mainland European ones, claiming it is reacting to different market forces. UKpassengers pay £129 for a standard return to Brussels, while passengers in Brussels pay £108.
