Former senior manager at Stewart Travel Roddie MacPhee is to join Barrhead Travel’s senior management team.
MacPhee, who was at Stewart Travel for 11 years, will work alongside the company’s directors as the agency grows its branch network and product range.
The news follows the appointment of Manda Churchill, former commercial director at 1st4Cruising, to develop its cruise business and commercial relationships.
Before joining Stewart Travel, MacPhee spent 22 years with Scottish agency AT Mays, in roles which included divisional director and marketing director.
He said: “I am very pleased to take up my new role with Barrhead Travel. I’ve had many years in the travel business, and to join such a proactive and progressive company at such an exciting time in its history is something that I look forward to with relish.
“I’ll be working to help it reach even greater heights in the coming months, and I’ll be looking to capitalise on the many opportunities that are available to a company of Barrhead Travel’s reputation and stature.”
Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: “We are very pleased to have Roddie as part of the senior team at Barrhead Travel. He is a very well-known face in the travel industry and his experience cuts across both leisure and business travel.
“We’re sure he will be an invaluable addition to our senior management team, and the right person to help us to continue to deliver results.”
Resort development company Minoan Group acquired an interest in Stewart Travel and signed a management agreement with owner Willie Stewart for the future operation of the agency in June this year.
