Snow and wind causes disruption to flights

Impending snow and high winds today has prompted airports to advise passengers to check flights with their airlines.

Heathrow reported that schedules are normal today, but warned: “There may be delays due to the weather, keep in touch with your airline for flight information.”

Some services at London City Airport faced disruption this morning due to a low cloud base. “Affected passengers should call their airlines,” the Docklands airport said.

Heathrow and Gatwick could both be affected by strong winds today while Luton airport faces low visibility, according to European air traffic control company Eurocontrol.

Luton had a light dusting of snow early this morning but with “no problems to report”.

Glasgow airport is open but passengers were advised to check with their airlines for departure or arrival times prior to travelling to the airport.

Airports are using their Twitter feeds to provide updates on travel conditions.
