A new boss will lead Marriott International Covid-19 recovery strategy across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Satya Anand has been promoted president of the region from his previous role as chief operations officer, luxury, for southern Europe.
He replaces Liam Brown, who moves to become Us and Canada group president for the global hotel group
Anand will spearhead Marriott International’s post-Covid recovery approach across 998 hotels in EMEA.
He will also drive a range of initiatives and campaigns designed to reinvigorate the hospitality industry, including digital technology such as mobile keys, check-in and chat between guests and hotels.
Anand joined the company in 1988 as a night auditor at the Vienna Marriott Hotel.
Marriott International president Craig Smith said: “I am delighted that Satya has taken on this role to lead our business across Europe, Middle East and Africa at such a fundamental time for the hospitality industry.
“As a 32-year Marriott veteran, Satya has a remarkable knowledge of the industry and our business, as well as outstanding relationships with associates, guests, owners and franchisees.
“His ability to engage and inspire will serve him well as he takes on this important position.”
