Sandals reports buoyant Scuba interest

Sandals and Beaches Resorts have reported an increase of 28% in the number of holidaymakers taking the group’s Padi diving programme from July to September this year.

Nearly 1,000 dive courses were completed in the three months compared to the same period last year.

Many of the guests have taken the classroom element of their entry-level Padi certification from home by using the operator’s online, e-learning programme.

The resort operator said the number of guests who had completed the entry-level Padi certification upon arrival at resort was up by 57% in September compared to September 2019. Once completed at entry-level, guests are entitled to up to two free dives per day as part of a Sandals or Beaches holiday.

Those guests taking the ‘continued education’ Padi course has also gone up considerably, by 125% in September versus the same month last year.

Sandals and Beaches also offer a Padi Discover Scuba Diving three-hour experience to try out an open water dive during their stay and as part of the resorts’ Luxury Included packages there are two one-tank dives and one two-tank dive per day for certified divers.
