ITC named as one of best small firms to work for

Luxury operator International Travel Connections has been rated as one of the top 100 best small companies to work for.

Chester-based ITC was rated 67th in the Sunday Times league table while The Cavendish Hotel in London took 43rd place and industry market reseach firm eDigital Research came in at 72nd position.

ITC, under chief executive Jennifer Atkinson, runs “walk and talk” sessions in the countryside to thrash out business problems.

It spent £100,000 sending half of its team of 86 people to test its holidays last year. They can also use staff travel rates for their holiday allowance of 22 to 25 days.

The four-star Cavendish achieved a 93% positive score for its environmental activities such as the use of sustainable food and drink sourcing and a zero landfill policy.

Manicures, pedicures and massages are free for the 111-strong workforce. The hotel identifies top talent for development and staff say training is of great personal benefit.

Southampton-based eDigital Research took its 61 staff to a party in Las Vegas last year and encourages charity efforts by granting a week of paid leave to help a good cause.

Staff say their managers are good listeners (85%) and they feel their jobs are secure (89%).
