BRITISH Airways and Virgin Atlantic’s battle for the right to operate an extra Heathrow-Cape Town service enters its next stage later this month.
Both carriers will argue their case for the additional weekly service at a Civil Aviation Authority hearing on September 20.
BA wants to take its Cape Town schedules up to a daily operation, while Virgin wants to operate direct flights to the coastal city to complement its daily Heathrow-Johannesburg service.
Virgin will argue that there is a huge imbalance in the current schedules, with BA operating to both points, including a double-daily Johannesburg service.
