A NEW weddings Web site is wooing travel companies to put its products on-line to cash in on the honeymoon market.
WebWedding.co.uk – which has created an one-stop shop for couples arranging their marriages – claimed it is giving the travel industry instant access to a huge marketplace because research has shown wedding and honeymoon locations are couples’ top priority.
WebWedding.co.uk sales and marketing director Rupert Cook said operators Tropical Places and Holidays Abroad had signed up to the site and he was in talks with Kuoni, Virgin and Sandals.
Around 300,000 couples a year in the UK get married. The site’s creators say their research showed a growing trend towards more exotic wedding locations.
Cook said: “The site is offering the travel industry an opportunity to promote their services to a captive audience.”
The site aims to tap into 10% of the UK wedding market by January 2000.
