Simon Burns to speak at GTMC conference

Transport minister Simon Burns is to make the keynote address at the Guild of Travel Management Companies autumn conference.

Burns, who has responsibility for aviation and rail, has been lined up to speak along with travel industry speakers and panelists at the event in London on October 29.

Other speakers include Expedia chief commercial officer Dhiren Fonseca, KDS chief executive Dean Forbes,  Avis Budget UK sale director Oliver Woodmansee, Wyndham Hotel Group global sales executive vice president Ross Hosking and Iata industry distribution and financial services senior vice president Aleks Popovich.

Speaking ahead of the conference at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Chelsea Harbour, GMTC chairman Ajaya Sodha said: “The GTMC is delighted to have secured the minister of transport Simon Burns MP, to speak at our London conference – especially so soon after his appointment in the recent reshuffle.

“The GTMC policy is firmly behind aviation expansion in the South East and in the interests of speed a third runway or mixed mode flights at Heathrow. The government has launched the Davies Commission on aviation capacity and we will be looking for the Minister to provide some more detail on this and what can be done in the short-term to assist business.”

The conference, under the theme Opportunity in Change’ is open to GTMC members’ representatives and GTMC supplier partners.
