SUE Foxall has resigned as Midconsort chief executive following a split with the board.
While Foxall blamed pressures of work for the decision, sources claim she was frustrated at the lack of drive and direction at board level in taking the consortium forward.
Foxall, who became chief executive in 1998, will remain with Midconsort in a figurehead role but, from April 1, will no longer carry out commercial negotiations with operators.
She said the role had taken on new pressures since merging with 60-branch consortium Travelcall (Travel Weekly December 20).
“We have around 200 shops in Midconsort now and I cannot physically carry on with just four members of staff, two of whom are part time. I need a rest,” she said.
Members, however, were also blaming the board for her departure.
“The board has been too slow to react to the changes at Midconsort which frustrated Foxall,” said one source. “Every plan she had was just not acted on.”
Board chairman Alan Oram denied there was a split.
“We have a good relationship,” he said. “We asked her to remain with the consortium which she has agreed to do. Sue will still organise the events such as the conference and roadshows.”
He added the future management structure was still under review but accepted change was needed.
