Police appeal after Cook robbery suspect goes on the run

A man wanted in connection with suspected armed robberies at Thomas Cook branches in the West Country is on the run.

Lyndon Stein (49) absconded from HMP Springhill in Aylesbury on April 29.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for further information as he is wanted by numerous police forces across the country in connection with several suspected armed robberies.

Police say Stein’s robbery spree started at a hair salon in Oxfordshire on April 30.

On May 5 he struck again, this time at Thomas Cook in Clifton in Bristol before making his way to Gloucestershire where he targeted the Leeds and Holbrook building society on May 7.

Stein entered the Britannia building society in Fishpond, Bristol and made off with a substantial amount of money.

He is also thought to have threatened staff at Santander in Gloucestershire and Thomas Cook on the high street in Kingswood.

Stein is described as white, of a stocky build and normally carries a plastic carrier bag when committing these offences, ITV reported.

Anyone with information about him or where he may be is asked to call their local police force on 101.
