A trade body representing the self-catering holiday sector in Europe has been established by a group of leading holiday homes companies.
The new European Holiday Home Association aims to create a cohesive voice for campaigning on pan-European legislation.
The founding holiday home rental companies – including the Hoseasons Group – are some of the biggest players in Europe, representing more than 100.000 private homes for rent in over 30 European countries.
It is hoped that other rental agencies will also join as full members in the coming months.
Hoseasons Group managing director Geoff Cowley said: “What has become clear in all the work we do in this area is the influence that Brussels and European legislation has on our businesses, but to date there has been no organisation which represents the self-catering rental sector at that level.
“We are therefore delighted to have been asked to be a founding member of the new European Holiday Home Association, along with other leading rental companies from across Europe, and we hope the organisation will be effective in representing the interests of our owners.”
Hoseasons has been an active participant in informing the UK government on matters such as Furnished Holiday Lettings and energy performance certificates. It is also a sponsor of ‘The Pink Booklet’, which is the primary reference document for legislation on tourist accommodation in the UK.
