Low cost airline Jet2.com has launched new transatlantic services to New York and Boston.
The airline is to run a selection of direct flights and packages to the US next spring, flying from Leeds Bradford and Newcastle to New York, and from Leeds Bradford and Glasgow to Boston.
There will also be new routes from Leeds Bradford and Newcastle to Toronto.
Only six flights are scheduled, however the airline said it may consider more of its discovery breaks in the future.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of the airline, said the announcement marked a “milestone”.
“We are thrilled to be the very first holiday company to give people direct access to these exciting transatlantic destinations from Leeds, Glasgow and Newcastle,” he said.
“The addition of these three routes reinforces our commitment to our regional customers.”
