DTI says transparency rules will not apply to Thomas Cook

THOMAS Cook will not have to put any stickers in its windows to comply with the new Government rules on transparency (Travel Weekly August 2).


The Department of Trade and Industry accepted that customers will know that Thomas Cook-branded shops are part of the Thomas Cook Travel Group. Travel Weekly exclusively revealed it would not have to change its fascias back in April (Travel Weekly April 12)


Lunn Poly and Going Places will have to display their ownership links with Thomson and Airtours respectively by putting a sticker in their windows. All three will have to display the brands of their tour operator parent inside the agencies.


Discussions are taking place between the operators and DTI officials over the how large the window sticker should be.
