LA airport evacuated following reports of shooting

A gunman carrying a rifle is believed to be in custody following an incident at Los Angeles International Airport.


A terminal at the airport has been evacuated with reports that a shooting has taken place. According to reports, the gunman is in custody.


The Los Angeles Fire Department issued a statement saying it is “assisting law enforcement at multi-patient incident”.


The incident in terminal 3 was reported after 9.30am local time.


Los Angeles news channel NBC reports two people have been shot, including a Transportation Security Administration employee.


LAX airport tweeted: “All upper/departures level roadways are temporarily blocked by law enforcement. General public are being held back at law enforcement block


“Other than arriving flights, flight operatons have been temporarily held.”
