On The Go Tours to reinstate Egypt trips

On The Go Tours is to put Egypt itineraries back on sale in the middle of December but is offering internal flights for many tours because parts of the country remain off limits.

Tours restart on December 14 to the country with flights being offered for the section of the tours between Cairo and Aswan and Luxor (pictured).

Usually holidaymakers go on a train, specifically run for tourists, on this section of the operator’s tours. The train is not currently running because the Foreign Office advice has not changed for the part of the country where it operates.

Pru Goudie, general manager, said most adventure operators in the destination would be affected in the same way. She said: “it’s very exciting to be able to take clients out there again after a six-month ban but the overnight train is not operating yet so we are offering clients a flight option.”

Flights cost around $300 extra because of limited aircraft capacity on internal flights, she added.

The operator is also offering Hurghada instead of Dahab. “We usually take clients by vehicle to Dahab but we are not confident this is safe enough to travel through yet,” said Goudie.

Goudie said the operator was already planning a fam trip as soon as possible for agents to help boost sales back to the destination, jointly funded by the tourist board.
