‘Destinations’ consumer travel show to switch London venue in 2015

Consumer travel show Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show is moving venue in London from 2015.

The Times-sponsored event, which is being staged at Earl Court on February 6-9, will be switching to Olympia on January 29-February 1, 2015.

It will also run in Manchester at EventCity on January 15-18, 2015.

The 20th annual show in London next month has attracted 500 exhibitors but needs to move due to the closure of Earls Court Exhibition Centre as part of a re-development plan.

Organiser Clarion Events, which claims record advance ticket sales coupled with show growth of more than 15% for 2014, says visitors and exhibitors agree that west London remains the perfect place for the exhibition.

Show director Sam North said: “With the heart of the travel industry being in west London and the surrounding area, our move makes total sense.

“Olympia London is in the most affluent area of the country and as the only venue with dedicated rail and tube stations, has fantastic transport links to our core catchment regions of Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire & Oxfordshire”.

The move to Olympia London also provides a stable and certain platform for the event

Nigel Nathan, managing director of venue owner Earls Court & Olympia London, said: “Destinations began its days at Olympia and so we are delighted to welcome it back again.

“The £30 million we have spent to improve the venue will no doubt ensure the visitor experience is better than ever before. In fact Olympia London’s inspiring spaces have hosted 42 of the country’s leading consumer exhibitions in the last year – attracting almost a million visitors – so there is no better home for Destinations.”

Jane Knight, travel editor at The Times, said: “Destinations is the most vibrant consumer travel event in the UK and is a great opportunity for travellers to indulge their passion in an inspiring and engaging environment.”
