Charlie Bateson has been named by Abercrombie & Kent as product and commercial director.
Bateson is moving from Best at Travel and previously worked for Trailfinders and Page & Moy.
He joins Abercrombie & Kent on February 10 reporting to managing director Kerry Golds.
The appointment comes almost a year since Golds took over the reins at the luxury operator.
She said: “It has taken us a while to find the right person to fill this pivotal role, and I am delighted to welcome Charlie on board; his appointment puts in place the final piece of the executive management team responsible for the strategy of the business, as we focus on optimising the quality, choice and value of our portfolio.
“With our global network of A&K DMCs, we feel are in a unique position to give our travellers a compelling combination of seamless service, authenticity, insight and style”.
Bateson added: “A&K has always held a certain mystique and is synonymous with high quality of service and impeccable product delivery.
“The opportunity to become a part of Kerry’s revolution is too good to miss.
“I have found during my career that there is always something to learn about business. There are always alternative ways of approaching a situation and consequently alternative outcomes.
“I hope that the breadth of my experience combined with a relaxed but strong work ethic will allow me to bring something fresh. I can’t wait to get started.”
