Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group is to launch two new global hotel brands, Radisson Red and Quorvus Collection.
The group also revealed that the Hotel Missoni brand will be scrapped, with the two existing properties to cease using the name.
Radisson Red is described as a ‘lifestyle select’ brand, while Quorvus Collection will be a collection of luxury hotels.
The company, whose brands include Park Plaza, Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson, aims to have 60 Radisson Red and 20 hotels in the Quorvus Collection by 2020.
Radisson Red will focus on technology, offering an mobile app that will allow guests to skip reception for check-in, order a drink in the bar, food from the deli or a taxi to the airport. They can also manage their personal profile and preferences through the app. The first hotels will open next year,
Quorvus will be a collection of five star hotels. The company said each one will be individual in style, architecture and design. The first members are to be announced in the second quarter of 2014.
Rezidor terminated its partnership with Missoni on December 31. The existing Hotel Missoni properties in Edinburgh and Kuwait will stop operating under the brand by June 30, but both hotels will remain in Rezidor’s portfolio.
Agreements for third party-owned projects under development in Oman, Qatar, Turkey, Brazil and Mauritius have either been terminated by Rezidor or may be converted to other Rezidor brands.
“This decision is in line with our long term strategy and focus on our core brands Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson,” said Wolfgang M Neumann, president and chief executive.
