Virgin Holidays marketing director Andrew Shelton is to leave the company to “pursue new opportunities”.
The news comes days after it was revealed that Virgin Holidays managing director Amanda Wills is to leave the operator on September 1.
Shelton, who joined Virgin Holidays from British Airways in 2006, worked on the launch and integration of Travel City Direct and Bales Worldwide. He was behind marketing campaigns including Rockstar Service and the recent Tanuary campaign.
In 2011, he was appointed to the board for the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean.
The recruitment process has begun for Shelton’s replacement.
Shelton said: “Earlier this year I made the decision to look at some new opportunities, both in the travel industry and other sectors, and will depart later this year to pursue them.
“I’m very proud of what has been achieved during my eight years at Virgin Holidays. It’s a fantastic brand, and I will miss the amazing team of passionate and innovative marketers who have made it such a pleasure to work here.”
Wills said: “The last eight years have been a time of great change at Virgin Holidays, and marketing has played a key role in that transformation.
“Andrew’s confident, enlightened and focused approach has ensured our brand has evolved in tandem with that changing marketplace, and he’ll be sorely missed by everyone here.
“We wish him well, and are thankful for all his fantastic work in creating the strong, innovative brand which Virgin Holidays is today. We’ve begun the search for a replacement, and an announcement will be made in due course.”
