Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus will not go on sale this week as one of Thomson’s Sensatori hotels because of delays in finalising the deal.
Thomson Holidays announced two weeks ago that the well-known property would be one of its Sensatori-branded properties for 2015.
However, the hotel immediately called the announcement “premature” and denied talks to rebrand the hotel, which includes a refurbishment this winter, had been completed.
The hotel will appear in Thomson’s preview brochure for short and midhaul destinations, which comes out tomorrow (April 24) as part of its 2015 summer programme.
However, travel agents and consumers will not be able to book the Sensatori hotel until negotiatons are complete. It is not known how long the talks will take but it hopes to put the resort on sale in the coming weeks.
Thomson said it would be communicating the news directly with third-party travel agents and its own retailers, while its customer service team in Coventry will communicate with consumers who try to book the property for next summer.
In a statement today the company said: “Thomson remains committed to operating Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus as part of its Thomson Sensatori portfolio from summer 2015.
“However, due to a delay in the hotelier firming up details of the contract, the property is not able to join the rest of the programme on sale this week. The negotiations to open a new hotel are complex, and it is not unusual for delays to be experienced in gaining the final agreement.”
Sensatori Resort Fethiye in Turkey and Sensatori Resort Ibiza, both new for 2015, will go on sale as planned.
