Holiday Extras helps customers after ‘freak’ Edinburgh airport fire

A “freak” electrical fault in a car is thought to have caused a fire at an Edinburgh airport car park.

A total of 18 vehicles suffered extensive damage in the blaze in the early hours of Friday morning at the Low Cost car park

Some of the vehicles are owned by customers of Holiday Extras.

The company is notifying the owners ahead of their return to the UK and they will be met at the car park and driven home.

“Holiday Extras will be advising the customers whose cars were unfortunately involved about how to deal with their insurance claims and how to get immediate access to a courtesy car,” the company said.

“Where necessary, this will be facilitated by Holiday Extras, at no charge.”

Operations director Howard Dove said: “Our customers are very important to us, whether they book through one of our partners or directly through our website or contact centre.

“We are very distressed to hear about this freak fire and would like to re-assure our customers that we will provide all possible support in these most upsetting circumstances.

“We will be contacting all those customers who have been affected to ensure that the transition to normality is as easy as possible.”
