n chains appoint new chief executive



Roy Tutty has been appointed chief executive of Arcadian International and Malmaison Hotels, both owned by WyndhamInternational. Tutty, previously chief operating officer at Arcadian,succeeds Arcadian founder Robert Breare. Thecompany is planning to sell off the 11 UK-basedArcadian hotels leaving Tutty to concentrate on the Malmaison brand.



n friendly hotels in shake-up at the top



Friendly Hotels hasreshuffled its topmanagement following the announcement that chiefexecutive Tony Potter is to quit his post to become executive director and chief operating officer at Millennium and Copthorne in November.Non-executive chairman Andrew Speak becomes full-time executivechairman and managing director Peter Cashman is to take on the new role of chief operating officer.



n macdonald hotels sees 9% rise in turnover



Macdonald Hotels has reported a group turnover increase of 9% from £51.6m in 1998 to £56.5 in 1999. Operating profit rose by 11.5% from £12.8m to £14.3m anddividend per share rose 10% from 5p to 5.5p.
