A multi-stop ‘hop-on and off’ service is to be operated by Flybe from this winter.
The FlyShuttle service will offer up to three flights a day connecting Jersey to Aberdeen from both directions, with passenger pick up and drop offs in Southampton and Leeds/Bradford airports.
One way fares from £29.99 including taxes and charges go on sale today for the service which is launched on October 26.
The initiative service opens up a link service between Aberdeen and Jersey and reinstates Flybe’s Southampton to Leeds/Bradford service.
Chief commercial officer Paul Simmons said: “FlyShuttle is a convenient and affordable concept for the regional marketplace that gives customers extra choice and additional connectivity for everyday air travel.
“Today’s announcement is another significant landmark in the re-birth of Flybe.
“Designed to be used as a ‘shuttle bus service in the sky’ all the way between Jersey in the south and Aberdeen in the north, we are again showing that we are ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe’, faster than road or rail – and certainly more affordable.”
“By enhancing the number of routes, connections and frequencies we already operate, FlyShuttle is the perfect progression. It’s a product that sets us apart and we are genuinely excited to be shaping the future of regional air travel.”
Operated by Flybe’s 78-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, the total journey time between Jersey and Aberdeen will be four and a quarter hours.
This includes the brief drop-off and pick-up times when through-passengers and their luggage can stay on board. The one exception is the initial northbound flight from Jersey when passengers and their luggage will need to disembark in Southampton to clear UK customs as their first entry point into the country.
