A strong last-minute surge in bookings for summer breaks is being claimed by Hoseasons.
Bookings for the two weeks leading into July for school holidays have seen an increase of 11%, compared to 2013, with Lodges and Parks performing particularly well with sales up by more than 12%.
The increase follows a strong 2013 performance, and demonstrates the continued demand for UK holidays amongst consumers, according to the company.
Managing director Simon Altham said: “We have had a busy few weeks as demand has really picked up. This is expected as we’ve seen this type of surge the last few years.
“We believe this demand is for a combination of reasons, which includes ease of access – especially at a time when airport and overseas travel becomes increasingly busy – and continued innovation in the range, quality of accommodation and holiday experiences on offer closer to home.
“But most importantly, holidaymakers love spending time in the UK, whether it’s wall-to-wall sunshine on the beach, or sheltering from a shower on a woodland walk, Britain remains the number one choice for many.”
