Officials from Bristol Airport said the facility had its busiest ever day last week.
A total of 25,390 passengers were said to have passed through the terminal on Thursday, August 14.
The introduction of a larger aircraft on KLM’s four times daily service to Amsterdam and high load factors on other scheduled and charter flights contributed to the increase.
Numbers were also boosted by Scandinavian Airlines twice-weekly summer service to Stockholm and an extra Tunisia flight operated by tour operator Just Sunshine.
Shaun Browne, Bristol Airport’s aviation director, said: “Milestones like this demonstrate passengers are increasingly choosing the convenience of their regional airport.
“By working with airlines and tour operators to extend the choice of products and destinations they offer from Bristol we hope to further reduce the need for passengers to fly from airports outside the southwest.”
Browne said the airport was already looking at opportunities for 2015 and that further developments could be announced in the coming weeks.
Work on an 8.6 million project to extend the airport terminal is scheduled to start next month.
