TRADEWINDS Resorts has completed the first phase of a $3.5m renovation of the Jolly Beach Resort, formerly Club Antigua, following its purchase of the property last year.
Of the property’s 462 rooms, 250 have reopened and it will continue to operate until May 15, at which time the hotel will close for a further range of extensive renovations.
The property is to be rebranded Time Out@Jolly Beach and will reopen on July 1 on an all-inclusive basis.
Several other hotels and resorts in Antigua and Barbuda have also reopened or are about to reopen following refurbishment after last year’s hurricane.
These include Jumby Bay Resort, which was purchased by the Jamaica-based Half Moon Club in November last year.
Renovations on the exclusive property include the installation of new air conditioning in all rooms, changes to the decor and landscaping. The St James’ Club has also had a $10m makeover that has included the remodelling of all rooms.
On Barbuda, the 24-suite Palmetto Beach Hotel has reopened after completing some internal changes.
The hotel has increased the range of activities it offers which now includestennis, horseback riding, nature trails, deep-sea fishing and turtle watching.
