Mauritius saw a 20.5% year-on-year rise in British holidaymakers in August to reach a level of 11,857.
The arrivals figure in August was higher than any other month in the past five years, according to the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
Numbers from the UK have increased by 11.75% in the first eight months of the year.
New routes from Emirates and the deployment of a Thomson Boeing 787 Dreamliner helped push up the numbers in August.
MTPA sales and marketing manager Rhys Powell said: “This is fantastic news for Mauritius and we hope to see more growth as we approach the final quarter of 2014.
“It’s extremely encouraging to have seen an increase in air capacity, which, as the figures show, have had an impact on our UK arrival statistics.
“With more routes than ever before we need to ensure that our ground products and services meet the increased demand.
“Moreover, it is important that we don’t let our standards slip and we remain the luxury market leader.”
