WTM 2014: Euromonitor and Just a Drop join forces to raise £20,000

Euromonitor International has become a fundraising partner of international water charity Just a Drop, aiming to raise £20,000 to support a water aid project.

Employees at the business intelligence and market analysis company opted to support the charity as part of wider corporate social responsibility activity which will donate 1% of all online sales over the next 12 months to the charity.

On November 3, Caroline Bremner, head of travel and tourism at Euromonitor, presented a cheque for £5,410 to the charity’s founder, Fiona Jeffery, at World Travel Market.

Euromonitor also presented its annual WTM Global Trends Report, predicting major travel trends around the world.

Bremner will also speak at the Africa Travel Association (ATA) congress in Uganda, as part of the Tourism Cares panel, and while there will visit two communities and a school which will be supported by Just a Drop over the coming year.

She said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Just a Drop and their invaluable work in empowering local communities to improve sanitation and save lives. It is an exciting prospect and also a great honour to witness first-hand the enormous benefits that Just a Drop projects bring to those that need it most”.

Fiona Jeffery OBE, chair and founder of Just a Drop said: “We are so appreciative of the commitment shown by Euromonitor – their support will have a real impact on people’s lives and help expand awareness of our cause internationally.

“We’re also delighted that Caroline will see and experience first-hand the outcomes of some of our water and sanitation projects in Uganda – and the difference made to people’s lives. Thank you on behalf of everyone here at Just a Drop.”

Just a Drop has delivered over 130 projects in 31 countries, supporting approximately 1.5 million people since its beginnings in 1998. The aim of the charity is to address the shocking statistic that a child dies every 20 seconds from a water-related disease – which means more children under the age of five years old die from this than from malaria, measles and HIV/AIDS combined.
